Missing in Middletown

All too often, new cases of missing persons appear in Butler County, including numerous missing persons who have been missing for more than one year, all with varying demographics. While most of the missing in Butler County are adult males, a group of missing women from Middletown has caught the attention of many who theorize that somebody may know more. Areas that have the most missing are Middletown, followed by Hamilton, then Fairfield. While these are some of the most densely populated areas in Butler County, Middletown is disproportionate in missing persons cases compared to the population in comparable cities.

Theodore "Teddy" Franks, last seen in 1987.

Theodore “Teddy” Franks was last seen on Roosevelt Blvd in 1987 after exiting his sister’s vehicle and being chased by two unknown men, leaving his keys and wallet in the passenger seat of the car.

Franks was married with two young daughters that he loved deeply, his family has reported that Franks’ behavior the day he disappeared was bizarre and that Teddy acted as if he feared somebody, perhaps the two men last seen chasing him.

His sister Michelle Franks, says that after 34 years of no answers, the family heartache has not subsided and they have not given up on looking for Teddy.

“We love him and miss him and want him home with us where he belongs. The experience has been a long and hard one. It consumes your whole life. You're constantly looking for anything or anyone who may know something. Somebody somewhere out there knows where he is and what happened.”

Lindsay Bogan went missing in 2015.

Franks is not the only missing person from Middletown.

Lindsay Bogan was last seen in September of 2015 on Central Ave in Middletown getting into a newer style silver Dodge Durango. . Months later, the remains of Bogan were discovered in a field on Keister Road in Madison Township. Her cause and manner of death have been unable to be determined by Butler County Coroner Dr. Lisa Mannix however many believe Bogan to have been a homicide victim. Brandy English, a friend of Bogan, was last seen 8 months after Bogan disappeared in May of 2016 after speaking with Middletown Police regarding Bogan’s disappearance, her disappearance has been labeled as “suspicious” by Ohio BCI.

“I want the police and detectives to get off their  *** " Robert Oney.

More Missing in Middletown

Amber Flack, another friend of both Bogan and English, was last seen in September of 2016 walking towards Central Avenue, where all three women were known to hang around. Melinda Miller, a cousin to Flack and friend to English, disappeared in February of 2017. Miller’s son Robert Oney says “I want the police and detectives to get off their  ***  and reopen my mom’s case and find out what happened to my mom. Having her missing and not with me has been miserable agony and straight hell with the constant reminder of never knowing what happened.”

Michelle Burgan went missing in 2017.

Vanished under suspicious circumstances

Only blocks from Central Avenue, Michelle Burgan vanished in

May of 2017. According to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal

Investigation, “Burgan was one of four adult women who

disappeared from Middletown under suspicious circumstances

from May 2016 to May 2017”.  A search warrant issued listed

Burgan, Miller, Flack, and English as targets of a search on the

property of Gilbert Revere. Burgan’s remains were located

during this search in September of 2018, the other women have

yet to be located. Brooklynn Short went missing in November of

2019 from the Tytus Avenue area of Middletown about a mile

from the area Burgan, Miller, Flack, English, and Bogan were

last seen. Middletown Police Department has been unable to

obtain police accreditation with CALEA, Commission on

Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, as of the time of

this writing. Law enforcement is asking for tips and information
