As a young 8 year old girl, Connie Baker would walk around her neighborhood advertising art classes for 10 cents each. Now, more than 50 year later, Connie made her dream a reality, opening her own studio in February of 2021. Studio B Makers, located at 3041 Symmes Road Suite C in Hamilton, has been a lifelong passion for Connie. Studio B Makers offers various art classes for children and adults, including sewing classes, painting courses, and other creative activities.
Connie is passionate about children, starting at a children’s dental office in her teens and directing the children’s department at her church for more than 20 years, along with raising four children of her own. Instilling a passion for art and entrepreneurship in her children, Connie decided to pass her values down to the youth in the region, saying “I have a desire to see more youth learn the value of owning their own businesses. I want to be able to reach a lot of people that maybe couldn't do art classes because they couldn't afford to.”
Connie, along with two volunteers, Anna Mitchum and Arlene Gadd, are hosting a total of 5 kids art camps this summer. Studio B Maker’s Entrepreneur Camp teaches children the costs of goods and products, how to make a profit, and how to sell their items. Items created at the camp will be available for the children to sell, giving them crucial hands-on experience of being an entrepreneur. Connie’s son Brad Baker is the owner of Pinball Garage in Hamilton, where they will host the Makers Fest sale on July 9th, where the children will keep the profit of the art they have created.
